When Will I Get the Hang of This?

I signed up with RunEatRepeat's Pile on the Miles challenge for November. Week 1 is a success!
My official goal is to run 3x week for the entire month.

This week I ran Monday morning and Tuesday evening:

This means that for the next 3 days I had every intention to get out for a quick mile or two but of course, I didn't. #whyamIsolazy

But I always look forward to my Saturday morning run with my run buddy Val. Our regular Saturday run plus a greasy breakfast with a side of gossip is such an awesome way to start the weekend.

Afterwards, I looked up my paces from our run yesterday.
The top gold line below shows my pace results (the bottom line is elevation). The flat-ish first half of that gold line is the part of the run that I do with Val. The second half is the part of the run where I loop back to the car on my own while Val continues on the trail to get in more miles.
Results: I have ZERO ability to pace myself. My paces are all over the board when I'm running alone. What the heck am I doing out there? Seriously. I guess this means I need to wear and check my Garmin at ALL times on my runs. I swear I'll never get the hang of this running thing!!!! UGH

There's been rumblings (by other runners) of coyotes being spotted on the Greenway Trail we run on Saturdays. There have also been sightings (by me) of suspicious characters in dark hoodies and too many white panel windowless vans. I'm now carrying my pepper spray even though it isn't as dark out as it used to be.
This was an all-too-typical a scene from our post-run breakfasts: Val is engrossed by whatever is on his phone while I'm trying to take a good enough selfie for the blog without looking too obnoxious.

Saturday evening BD & I headed out to the Coliseum again for another USC football game. We had been invited to a Tailgate party plus were given free game tickets....how can you say no to that? We both keep saying we don't even like USC football and yet I think we've only missed one home game. It's kinda fun to root for the other side though! (no offense to SC fans)
Weekends out are fun but I'm ready for a nice long Saturday at home with marathon TV. Someone just told me about a show called The Borgias that I should check out. I don't know if I have the time to commit to another TV series right now. We'll see!
