Slow Paces & Short Distances in October

It's been a minute since i've put up a post but it's not because I wasn't running. October was just super crazy for us. I managed to run pretty consistently throughout the month. As the hottest October on record in SoCal, I was pretty proud of the fact that I kept heading out to run even though: 1. the weather sucked a$$ and 2. my runs were pretty terrible.

"Slow paces and short distances" was my mantra in October (hee hee).
Time to dig out the reflective vests and pepper spray from the bottom of the drawer. Lately these early morning runs are D-A-R-K dark. Talk about nerdy. I've always hated oddly paranoid people and now I've joined their ranks. Sucks to get old.
It is AMAZING how much better I feel when I foam roll and stretch after a run. Foam rolling didn't always happen throughout October, but it happened more often than not.
My favorite Lazy Woman's foam roller: a 55 lb child walking up and down my legs. She loves to hear me holler in pain, so it's a WIN WIN.
Favorite post-run drink: Strawberry muscle milk mixed with almond milk and a banana, consumed on my hour-long commute to work. DEEEELISH. And so filling too! Coming from a #fatkid, that is really saying something!
The most comical carpool buddy a mom could ask for:
My good ol' RunKeeper app is now ramping up the speed work in November. LMAO. Don't they know me?? Ah, well, at this point, anything helps!

Here's hoping November is full of faster, longer runs!
