Back in the running pool & Switching gears

Today was my first run since the 8 miler I ran on Memorial Day. I've been sick for over a week. My buddy Val has very generously agreed to pace me at the San Francisco half at the end of July and as usual he is taking his training more seriously than I am (what else is new?). He wanted to get an idea of where I was in terms of my running ability so we did an almost-5-miler this morning.
I felt great with my fresh legs but was coughing a lot throughout the run and had snot bubbles coming out my nose. Val didn't seem to mind (that's a good friend!) but it was gross.

Afterwards we met up with his S.O. for a post-run breakfast at an old local coffee shop. I inhaled my breakfast before I could snap a picture but it was delicious.
Later I had a non-rice sushi roll which is my favorite roll! And I did get a picture of that.
And now we are switching gears and gathering up all the last minute camping stuff getting the truck ready for our annual trip to Yosemite. We leave for a week of "roughing it" first thing in the morning! Schools out for summer!!

Can't wait to run the Happy Isles loop under the shadows of Half Dome and the ponderosa pines!!

  1. Hope you have a great time on your trip to Yosemite!

I've been hacking up a lung over here too - it's no fun at all. Right now I'm at the point where I can mostly make it through the run without coughing but as soon as I stop I couch for like a billion hours straight!

Here's to us feeling 100% again soon! Cheers!
