A "BYE" week & silver lining

I have to chalk up the past week as my BYE week for the season. I caught some kind of cold last Tuesday night which started out as only a little tickle in my throat. When I woke up Wednesday morning nasty phlegmy stuff had started. Long story short, I haven't run in almost 7 days.

Instead I've been drinking: a homemade concoction made up of a red onion and 3 garlic cloves blended with water in which rosemary sprigs and cinnamon sticks were boiled. Like an onion/garlic/cinnamon/rosemary HOT smoothie. Yummmm.......not.

My Pop was "kind" enough to whip this up for me when he found out I was sick, so I was obligated to drink it. It made me sweat through my shirt, but it didn't make me better.

I managed to drag myself out of bed for a couple of hours on Thursday to volunteer at the Puff's school's annual Olympics. I really shouldn't have done that. I'm sure I spread my junk to everybody who came within 10 feet of me. But the Olympics is such a huge deal at this school. I know this kid won't be 8 forever (it only feels like forever).

There is a silver lining to this bye week and that is THIS:

I haven't eaten very much all week and have managed to drop 3 pounds since the last weigh in. I'll take it. Hopefully by the time I get my appetite back, I'll be well enough to run again.
